“Everywhere we go, people breathe in the exquisite fragrance. Because of Christ we give off a sweet scent rising to God, which is recognized by those on the way of salvation, an aroma redolent with life.”
2 Corinthians 2:15 (MSG)
I’m not sure about you, but the month of March seemed to last at least a hundred days this year. April and May seemed to melt into each other altogether, and yet it still feels rather surreal that June is just around the corner, though its arrival has been long-anticipated. In this tumultuous, trying season, it's safe to say that our hearts have been longing for spring, longing for the hope of new life, of new chances, and new scenery.
There’s a handful of aromas that will forever be held in association to the arrival of spring and the promise of summer in my mind: the pungent smell of blush-colored peonies that bloom in my aunt’s garden each year, the smell of fresh spread wood shavings at a livestock show, and the overwhelming fragrance of a million trees blooming around my hometown. These different fragrances are indicative of new life and beauty to me, and I can’t help but wonder if Paul thought the same when he penned the verse above in Corinthians. He describes in depth the sort of beauty that followers of Jesus would exude as they followed in the footsteps of their King, and here at EPAGA Home Care, we desire to exude this same beauty in all that we do. For the past few months, it’s almost as if the whole world has been holding its breath, yet we hold fast to an everlasting hope. This is the same hope that EPAGA Home Care was built upon; the hope found in the Breath of Life Himself.
From time to time I reflect on this quote from Madeleine L'Engle, who wrote:
“We draw people to Christ not by loudly discrediting what they believe, by telling them how wrong they are and how right we are, but by showing them a light that is so lovely that they want with all their hearts to know the source of it.”
At EPAGA Home Care, this is the very light our company strives to exude, because we have found all that we need in the person of Jesus. In His salvation there is freedom and hope to be discovered, and we wish to extend the same to those within our care. We deeply desire that our own lives, our actions, and our business would be evident of our faith, evident of our trust in our God, and evident of His love. Our dedication to those in our care has the opportunity to serve as a witness to our King and we believe that it is the very breath of God that sustains our work.
Hard work has been and always will be of great importance to us, and to our company, yet just as 2 Corinthians states, it is because of Christ that we engage in our work, work that we consider to be a labor of love. We understand that all that we do can serve as a witness to Jesus, in order that more may come to know Him and taste the freedom and forgiveness that He offers. As the EPAGA Home Care Family, we seek to emanate the sweet fragrance that the scriptures speak of, and that our obedience, compassion and dedication to God and His people would be evident to all whom we encounter, and to those in our care.
Today, we sincerely hope you find the chance to inhale and exhale, to finally take a deep breath in the midst of an arduous season, and to breathe in deep the assurance of His faithfulness.
