We Put on Love

And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body.

Colossians 3:14-17

At EPAGA Home Care, we get up each morning with the intent of serving our community and clientele well. While each day proves to be different, and offers new and unique challenges, we have to constantly remind ourselves of this verse from Colossians; to put on love above all else.

EPAGA is built upon the very foundation of love, and we understand that, as followers of Jesus, we must hold ourselves to a higher standard of love and compassion. It is this same Love that we wear this week as the results of the election become known: the Love that sought us out when we were undeserving and lost, the Love that died on a cross for all of humanity, and the Love that rose again victorious. We acknowledge that Love has a name; Jesus. He will not only return for us one day but He dwells within our midst even now, and holds steady when all else begins to unravel. The following is a reflection and a prayer that I wrote in November of 2016, the morning after the 58th Presidential Election. It brought me peace then, it does now, and I hope it can offer some to you:

Good morning, land that I love. I pray that hope dawns over your city streets and corn fields, your gated communities and your homeless shelters, your tired, your weary, your broken and your hurting. May it rise like a banner of love, and may it be undeniable. Because in fact, we are not alone, not dependent upon ourselves, or a single American for that matter, and we never have been. May you press forward, bravely, heroically, and resilient, as you always have. In fact, may we all.

We rejoice in knowing that the love of God is stronger than any disagreement, political party or candidate. We are praying that we would see those around us as our neighbors before we consider them our opposers. May peace rule in all of our hearts this week, because King Jesus is on the throne.

Additionally, if you are in need of some background music to augment all of the other noises of life, here are some worship songs that have reminded me of the presence of God in this season:
