“A thrill of hope, a weary world rejoices…”
As I was growing up, decorating my childhood home for the Christmas season was an event in itself; a specific Saturday that was set aside that even my dad took seriously. My two younger sisters and I would watch in anticipation as my mom unearthed the Christmas boxes from the back of our coat closet, knowing they held red and green and sparkly things. There were countless mementos that were forgotten until December rolled around each year: hand sewn stockings and ceramic shepherds that had to have their wooden staffs glued back into their hands, having been dropped one too many times. I also recall a raggedy green garland that had seen better days, but was lovingly wrapped around our staircase banister each year, garnished with red felt bows and twinkling lights.
The lights, the ornaments, the tinsel; all the treasures from those musty boxes from underneath the stairs weren’t Christmas in themselves. However, they were evidence of it, indicators of it, signs that Christmas Day was well on its way. They sent a thrill of hope through my young heart; made me anticipant of what was to come, hopeful of all the things that the month of December represented. As I grew up, I would realize that simple, happy things like snow globes or sugar cookie deliveries ultimately pointed to the hope of Jesus, the image of Hope Himself.
This year has been undeniably hard, and the words from a Christmas carol: “a weary world rejoices” land a bit differently this year in all of our hearts. Yet after all we’ve witnessed, felt and experienced in the past several months, we refuse to believe that we are short on hope at EPAGA Home Care. Rather, we rejoice in the hope that we see and experience each and every day around our office. We have the greatest hope in our excellent staff and care providers, and hope in changing the face of the home care industry for the better. Hope is so very evident to us, in the faces of the families that we get to work alongside, and the hope that is contagious within our community. As a company, our hope lies in Jesus, who sees and cares for us, especially in the year of 2020. Needless to say, we are thrilled in helping to create hope for you and your family this Christmas, and wish you the best during this holiday season.
What is bringing you hope in this season? Leave us a message in the comments!
As for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more.
