ICYMI: Check out our EPAGA Spotlights for NFC Month!

“Family members, friends, and neighbors devote countless hours to providing care to their relatives or loved ones. During National Family Caregivers Month, we recognize and thank the humble heroes who do so much to keep our families and communities strong.”

- President Barack Obama, NFC Month Proclamation 2012

In case you missed it, throughout November we celebrated National Family Caregivers Month. Here at EPAGA Home Care, we have an incredible staff of caregivers. Throughout this past month, we jumped at the opportunity to broadcast our love and pride for a few of our own who show us what it truly means to provide care and bring joy—not only to those they care for, but to us as well. For those of you not a part of the Facebook network, heres a recap:

SAMANTHA LAKE

Our first EPAGA spotlight is Samantha Lake! Samantha has been with EPAGA Home Care for nine years. She works not only in the office but also as a caregiver when there is a need. Sam’s gentle demeanor is reassuring when she receives calls or is in the middle of a project in the office, as well as talking with families and new clients in their home.

“I love working for this company”, Samantha says. “This company takes pride in caring not only for the consumer, but also the caregiver.” Her favorite part of working at EPAGA is “knowing that we make a difference by giving people the ability to stay home or keep a family member home longer.”

Samantha's favorite quote is an indication of the wonderful person she is; “Be the somebody that makes everybody feel like somebody.” Thank you, Samantha, for the daily efforts you contribute towards making EPAGA a great place to work. We appreciate you!

KIM EMPER

For 4 years, Kim Emper has been at the helm of scheduling for EPAGA Home Care. Kim states that she likes working at EPAGA because she “likes helping others” and “the atmosphere around the office is like we are a family.”

Her favorite part of the job is knowing that she makes a difference in the lives of our clients and caregivers. Kim and her husband Chris have two daughters, Heather and Bethany. Kim and Chris are also parents to 3 horses, 4 little dogs and a cat. Kim says ”NO! We do not want any more… yes, people try all the time.”

Scheduling is a tough job, but Kim enjoys the mixing and matching that it takes. She even stated that “working at EPAGA is the most relaxing atmosphere I’ve ever worked at. We work hard but are treated with love and respect; we are family.”

Ahhhh Kim… we love you too! Kim works every day with her favorite Bible verse in mind, Galatians 5:13. “Serve one another in love.” Thanks for everything you do, Kim!

John Sonderegger III, has been working at EPAGA Home Care for 2 years. He enjoys helping clients and seeing them thrive, and happiness is something John strives to create in his relationship with others when working with them.

John’s “why” in life is fueled by having the opportunity “to see my clients happy with the care and companionship offered by my assistance.” A favorite quote that he lives and works by is “always do your best. Never give up. Never Surrender.”

This is obviously what he strives for every day as he states, “I am married to the best wife. I have 3 wonderful boys. They are the main reason I am in healthcare now. I do my best to make them proud and that they understand that I do a job I enjoy.”

John says that “EPAGA is a fantastic group that goes above and beyond when client care is needed.” That is why John fits in so well at EPAGA Home Care. He selflessly provides excellent care to each of his clients, no matter the circumstance. Thank you for your unrelenting positive attitude and your constant willingness to go above and beyond, John!

Jacqui Haig has worked at EPAGA Home Care since 2014. She loves working as a caregiver because she “enjoys helping people who are handicapped, temporarily sick, and the elderly. Making them comfortable and making them laugh are what gets me through the day. Their reactions to our help is priceless.”

Her favorite part of the job is the reward of how the clients make her feel. She states that care-giving is "not a job… It’s an adventure.” She enjoys working at EPAGA and says, “if you have personal or family problems, we really try and help. We don’t give an ultimatum like a lot of other places do.”

Something about Jacqui that is pretty spectacular is that she is the total package of care and love. Not only does she work as a professional caregiver, but she is also a full-time caregiver for her mother. This makes her an empathetic caregiver who knows both sides of the struggle and challenges of taking care of a loved one. Oh, and by the way… can this girl cook! She loves to treat her clients to some really great homemade food. We adore Jacqui--she is certainly one special lady! We are truly blessed to have you as part of our family!
